NPC Report Highlights the Essential Role of Oil and Natural Gas in Meeting Future Energy Demand

Washington, DC - Culminating a 22-month study effort, the National Petroleum Council (NPC), a federal advisory committee to the Secretary of Energy, approved the global oil and natural gas final report, Facing the Hard Truths About Energy, and presented it to Secretary Bodman at the 117th meeting of the Council held on July 18.

MORE INFO
Secretary Bodman requested the NPC to undertake a study on global oil and natural gas in October 2005. The Council's study examined a broad range of global energy supply, demand, and technology projections through 2030. Risks and challenges to a secure and reliable energy future were identified, and strategies and recommendations were identified for balancing future security, economic, and environmental goals. More than 350 expert participants, from diverse backgrounds, contributed to the study.
