1999 Carbon Sequestration Program Plan - CoverThis document is the draft Program Plan for the U.S. Department of Energy's Carbon Sequestration Research and Development Program conducted by the department's Office of Fossil Energy. It describes the program drivers and goals, the R&D portfolio, program strategy, and program benefits.

The main challenges for the Carbon Sequestration Program are to reduce the cost of sequestration, develop a broad portfolio of sequestration options, and ensure that long-term sequestration practices are effective and do not introduce any new environmental problems.
